Folks have been growing shiitake mushrooms from hardwood logs for centuries. Easy to care for, once mature your mushroom log will produce for 4-5 years. Logs average 2ft long x 4-6in diameter. Plugged, waxed, with ID tags, and ready for your garden.
Our mushroom logs are prepared using freshly cut white oak and inoculated quickly with fresh mushroom plug spawn. Oldest logs are shipped first, giving you the best vintage and shortage wait time for maturation. Shiitake logs may take up to 1 or 2 years to mature before you can expect the first mushrooms.
Each Log is supplied with shiitake mushroom log growing instructions. The gist of it: keep the log outdoors in a shaded location where it can be rained on. During dry periods, periodic soaking may be required. Shiitake mushrooms will fruit during the cooler months of Fall, and periodically during the first glimpses of Spring.
Mushroom log fruiting guarantee: Our mushroom logs are inoculated and stored under ideal conditions at our facility in Knoxville, TN. However, mushroom logs must be maintained properly in your garden as per our instructions, if they are expected to reliably produce mushrooms. Allowing the logs to dry out, exposure to extreme heat, etc. may result in "dud" logs. If your log fails to produce mushrooms within two years of the inoculation date stamped on the ID tag, we will replace it free of charge. To obtain a replacement log, your dud log must be returned to our facility at your expense. Please contact us prior to sending your log back to obtain exchange authorization.
