Current Stock:

Product Description

Approximately three pounds of supplemented sawdust and wood shavings colonized with wine cap mushroom, Stropharia rugoso-annulata. Also known as the king stropharia.  Stropharia was known to have been eaten by North American Indians and can still be found throughout the North American temperate zone.  This strain has an excellent rich flavor and long shelf-life.

This block can be used to directly inoculate prepared outdoor mushroom beds. Prepare bed by digging an eight inch hole in shaded well drained location. Fill with four to six inches of soaked, freshly chipped hardwood or hardwood shavings. Layer in bits and pieces of mushroom spawn. Cover loosely with fresh mulch or forest litter.

Mushroom patches of king stropharia have been found to aid propagation of vegetable crops. For more information on growing edible mushrooms in conjunction with garden plants please check out "Mycelium Running : How Mushrooms Can Help Save the World by Paul Stamets.
