Make your own amadou crafts! This light, warm and slightly spongy amadou felt was hand crafted from tinder fungus mushrooms grown in Korond, Romania. The Maker, Mako Csaba, was nice enough to go through the exhaustive process of, foraging and carrying home the large Fomes fomentarius (tinder fungus), peeling off the hard surface, extracting the soft fibers found inside and pounding it into felted material. Just thinking about it makes me tired!
It's called tinder fungus for a reason, it is extremely flammable so choose your projects carefully!
For crafting Mako Csaba uses a white water based glue called Aracet. In old times people made a grain based glue for amadou.
Each piece is hand crafted so please allow for variation in color, shape and size.
If you are using to make a belt it will need to be backed with another material to make it strong enough for use as a belt.
