NOTE: We no longer offer pre-sterilized Potato Dextrose Agar. If you are looking to make or utilize this type of nutrient-rich agar media, we highly recommend using our Potato Dextrose Agar dry mix. For almost all cases where a pre-sterilized agar media might be appropriate, we feel the Pre-sterilized MEA (Malt Extract Agar) will be just as suitable. Therefore, in a continued effort to provide fresh, guaranteed, reliable media, we will only be producing the pre-sterilized MEA.

Ready to use pre-sterilized PDA (Potato Dextrose Agar), just re-liquify by heating and pour into petri dishes under sterile conditions. Guaranteed to be free from contamination. 500ml in a quart jar, enough for a full sleeve of 20 petri dishes.

Directions for reheating:

1. In a pan add enough water until the level of water is the same as the agar in the jar. Leave lid on jar tightly sealed.

2. Place jar in the water.

3. Bring water to boiling.

4. Continue to boil until all agar is completely liquefied. More water may need to be added to pan as it is boiled away.

5. When liquefied the agar can be poured under sterile conditions into petri dishes(sold separately). Petri dishes should be allowed to cool in a sterile environment. Once the agar gel is cooled mushroom cultures can be introduced under sterile procedure. Inoculated dishes should be sealed with plastic wrap or preferably Parafilm when stored.

Nutrient rich agar gelatin is a non-selective culturing medium. It will grow just about any mold spore or bacteria it is exposed to. When working with sterile media you must maintain sterile procedures in a sterile setting.
